The Skeptics’ Guide to the Mysteries of the Universe by Jessica Arden

Haunted pasts. History Nerds. Hot New Orleans Nights.

Grad student and New Orleans ghost tour operator Julie Deveaux is used to believing in things she cannot see. Although with her family history, spirits lurking beyond French Quarter galleries seem more plausible than true love or soul mates.

With romantic entanglements the last thing on her mind, Julie would do anything to complete her thesis research and exonerate infamous murderess Sophia Durocher in the process. Anything, that is, except further harass Sophia’s already spotlight-weary family.

However, a collision in Jackson Square puts her in the path of infuriatingly handsome fellow history-buff Griffin, and Julie is unable to ignore her attraction. After they accidentally exchange copies of a rare book, Julie gets insights into Griffin, revealing someone who grapples with the same big questions as she does. As the two grow closer, this man (whose weird internet search history might just rival her own) begins breaking down her walls one by one.

But when Griffin turns out to be the grandson of her thesis subject, Julie walks a dangerous line. He could be the key to all of the answers she seeks. But solving Sophie Durocher’s mystery could mean losing the one man who makes her rethink her belief in soul mates.

I loved this reading, it was different from what I have read, I guess that title is a little misleading. It is written in 3rd person point of view, and at first I was absolutely hooked with the sequence of events, by the middle of my reading I didn’t know what to expect or think, but soon enough I was eager to know everything. It was a surprise for me, I thought it was a different kind of book, but I loved it, I recommend it, is smart, light and nerdy, and easy to handle if you are initiating yourself on the world of reading. The cover deserves a special mention because it is beautiful and it´s beautifuly related to the plot, I’m a fan of beautiful book’s covers, and I should mention that cover

Where Good Girls Go To Die Cover Reveal!

Where Good Girls Go To Die by Holly Renee

Cover Design: Regina Wamba / Mae I Design & Photography

Release Date: April 13, 2017

It was a bad idea from the beginning.

He was my brother’s best friend and the definition of unavailable.

But I didn’t care.

I had loved him for as long as I could remember.

He was worth the risk. He was worth everything.

But then he broke my heart as easily as I fell for him. He watched me fall, spiraling

out of control, and as I reached for him, he wasn’t there to catch me.

So I ran.

Four years later, I never expected to see him again.

He was still my brother’s best friend, and he was more unavailable than ever.

He looked every bit the bad boy I knew he was, covered in tattoos and a crooked

Guarding my heart from him was top priority because Parker James was where good

girls go to die.

Unfortunately for him, I wasn’t a good girl anymore.

This book was great! I was very surprised by the plot, I thought it was a different kind of plot, I expected a lot of drama, but no, as the story develops so does the characters and it was refreshing to read about a strong woman becoming weaker and then again taking her stand and taking control. The male character is a hand full, because he seems so in control and strong but that’s not the case, in fact, he is the characters with more progress since the beginning until the end, and I love that kind of surprises on a story. It’s written en first person and doble POV, drifting between past and present time, and is so good that I have read it in 2 days

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

I read this book a year ago (by the first time), but I want to share this with everybody because is just that awesome. Maybe Someday is one of those books that is so original you can’t hold yourself back on your recommendations, you really understand that phrase from Markus Zusak: “Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for after you’ve  months finished just to stay near it”, this is the case. And the best part is, I almost can do it since, has a list of songs that explain the plot development. Yes, singer and songwriter Pete Griffin with the author created a whole playlist just for this book and is absolutely great!

Sydney is living in an idyllic bubble—she’s a dedicated student with a steady job on the side. She lives with her best friend, has a great boyfriend, and the music coming from the balcony opposite hers is fast becoming the soundtrack to her life. But when Sydney finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her, the bubble bursts. The mysterious and attractive man behind the music, Ridge, gives Sydney hope that she can move on and they begin to write songs together. But moving on is harder than she expects, Sydney can only hope….

Maybe someday…

Colleen Hoover draws you in to this passionate tale of music, love and betrayal…

The way this story has been told is beautiful and brilliant, once again I said BRAVO Missis Hoover, with the book there’s no gap left, somehow, when I finish I wanted more, and even that is possible, and I was pleased because there is another book called: MAYBE NOT, but it’s about other characters related with this book, without being a sequel. Since the first situation I was in love with the characters, everything changes with a speed that is barely manageable and keeps removing the whole scenario, because the facts are amazingly linked, this is an outstanding book.

This book had the same effect that every other Hoover´s book have had on me, leaving me with total anxiety for the next book, so I could find a story to soothe my brain and wondering how she would be able to overcome this … and she did! Over and over again … But I will tell you about that on future posts.
