He was supposed to kill me. I had done the unthinkable. I called the cops on him, on his family, but he let me live. We became friends, and then… we fell in love.
Lucy Ives is a foster kid, running from her turbulent past. On her first night in New York City, she accidentally calls the cops on the mafia. When their fixer comes to kill her, he spares her life in exchange for a favor–be his fake fiance or die.
The first thing that hooked me on this book was the “Foreword”, never seen before, you can not miss that, it was hilarious and gave me an idea of how this book would be.
It is a story whose plot is developed around many issues about the mob, being the protagonist a gorgeous and brilliant man who is a passive member of it, and the female character… I love her because she has a lot of internal monologues and since I am exactly so I could see myself reflected on this part of her and enjoyed that a lot. At the very beginning it is a little bit slow in terms of the plot twists, but almost immediately the action starts and it becomes very interesting, sexy and intricate, there are plenty of characters and I do not want to reveal anything in advance, but it is essential to pay attention to each one of them. Someone recommended this book for me, after reading my review for Carter Reed and now I must thank him for this recommendation, I could not but love it, if you liked some story related to the mafia before, with a bad-boy/good-man … this book is for you.
